About The Team

Careem Grocery is on a mission to reinvent the way people shop for grocery, pharmacy and retail products. As an exciting new vertical within Careem (a start-up within a start-up), we’re in the early stages of building our product and have plenty of interesting and fundamental challenges to solve in order to achieve our ambitious growth goals in this burgeoning space.

As a Quality Control Associate, you’ll be a fundamental part of the team which drives the operations for our dark stores within an area. This is a unique role with the opportunity to create genuine impact for the lives of everyday people in our region.

We’re looking for someone with a keen eye for understanding the crux of operational challenges and co-relate them with the mission of delivering the freshest product possible to the customer. Ensure to promote ‘food safety and quality culture’ by providing determining priorities, goals and objectives to ensure customer experience impact, financial and operational integrity, accountability, efficiency and effectiveness, compliance with policies, procedures, R&C regulations.

What You‘ll Do

  • Store Operations Audit:
    • Own, lead and perform internal/ external controls audits and assessments of all ecommerce operational individual business units (cold chain, food safety, personal hygiene, hygienic environment) and lead efforts to mitigate identified control deficiencies
    • Issue all internal/external audit reports ensuring the reports are clear, concise, identify root causes with practical solutions, and ultimately provide value to country teams (ops, hygiene officer, R&C) and management
    • Own and drive weekly global audit meetings and/or committees, draft team presentations and audit reports in an efficient manner to ensure that Internal Audit is well-informed of key business developments that could have an impact on audit priorities and/or plans
    • Report the status of your Internal/external Audit projects to the drive quality and safety.
  • Food Safety Inspection:
    • Liaise with Dubai Municipality for inquiries and any food safety-related communication- Company representative for food safety-related meetings/ inspections from Dubai Municipality-
    • Complete training update process in Foodwatch, starting from accepting training request to updating assessment results- Keep the training material updated based on the latest information available from Dubai Municipality
    • Update the management on any notification from Dubai Municipality/ Foodwatch- Conduct food safety training and assessment as per schedule at client premises- Conduct scheduled in-house food safety training and assessment
    • File training related documents regularly such as training attendance sheets, feedback forms, question papers, and completed assessment papers- Coordinate with the sales team for any queries related to food safety training.
What You’ll Need

Successful candidates will have a passionate commitment to improving the lives of people, an insane focus on excellence and customer centricity, and a strong alignment with our core values and purpose.
  • 3-6 years of experience managing Food Safety and Quality/ Health and Safety in a large-scale retail grocery, foodservice or manufacturing environment
  • Proven knowledge of Dubai Municipality Food Safety Code/Trakhees/ISO/ Halal and HACCP
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • You’ll be working in the location you’re hired from. Due to legal and compensation considerations, you will need to be based out of the country you’re hired from as your primary work location.
